I saw this poster in the airport, a few moments after I had landed back home in Greece and immediately knew it’d end up here. It was kinda meant to, as it’s title is What is Our Homeland? I. It’s designed by greek graphic design studio mnp, -m and -p being the initials of the people who built and run it. They have won numerous EΒΓΕ awards (Greek Graphic Design & Illustration) and they have worked on commercial, arts and culture and music projects. This poster is one of the many in the National Theatre of Greece series and I had a pretty hard time choosing which ones to feature. Their solution to the theater’s diverse production line-up allows it to blend nicely with the theme and the tone of each play without distracting and it creates an identity that is instantly recognizable. They use photography as if it were more important that the information on top of it and that too has played a big part in creating a strong visual language for both them (as an agency) and the National Theatre.
